Image of Shani The deity representing Saturn is Shani, which sits on a vulture (or a donkey), dressed in blue clothes, holding a shoola, bow and arrow in three hands while giving blessings with the fourth. |
|
Spiritual Significance Shani represents the illusion of boundaries from the higher Self. As an intellectual function it is deduction, removing instead of inferring. It creates the sense of separation from wholeness (also called pragya aparadha), encouraging limitations, concreteness, responsibility and isolation. In itself Shani represents the final stage of the game (lila) of the Self. It's time itself. |
Astronomical Saturn Saturn is the 6th planet from the Sun. It is the second largest planet and it's characterized by it's famous rings. When these rings were first perceived through a telescope, they appeared like chains, reflecting on the closed and bound nature of Shani. |
